Katie Livingston is a scholar of late 19th and early 20th-century American literature. She examines women’s writing through the lens of feminist theory and narrative form. Her research focuses on women writers during the Progressive Era and examines archetypes of female alterity such as spinsters, widows, prostitutes, adultresses, and unmarriageable women. She is interested in material culture, the Novel, the short story, regionalist fiction, and domestic ephemera. She also has a strong interest in the public humanities and in open-access scholarship.
