Program Requirements for Undergraduate International Students

International students at Menlo will join either the Degree Program or the Intensive English Program.

The Degree Program is for you if you:

  • have previously studied at a school where the language of instruction is English; or
  • have a TOEFL iBT score of 4.5 or higher; or
  • have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher; or
  • have an SAT total score of 890 or higher; or
  • have a Duolingo English Test score of 101 or higher.

The Intensive English Program is for you if you:

  • demonstrate academic potential but would benefit from additional English language preparation before beginning degree coursework.

Applicants are encouraged to submit English proficiency test scores, such as the Duolingo English Test, IELTS, or TOEFL, if available. All IEP applicants must also complete a virtual or in-person English language assessment with Menlo College to determine appropriate placement in the program. Applicants who have not taken an English proficiency exam may still be considered for admission.

Application Requirements

It’s never too early to apply for admission.

  1. Submit your free online application. You are encouraged to complete the Menlo College Express Application to fast-track your admissions decision. You are also welcome to apply using the Common Application.
  2. Submit your transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended. If you intend to transfer units to Menlo College, you must have your transcripts evaluated by The Evaluation Company, WES or Incred.
  3. A personal essay and a letter of recommendation are not required, but proof of English Language Proficiency or English assessment via virtual or in-person interview by Menlo College is required.
