Admission Requirements for First-Year Students

Menlo College is committed to enrolling students who demonstrate academic potential, strong moral character, and a commitment to personal and intellectual growth.

Please review the requirements below to complete your application.

Early Action or Regular Decision?

First, you’ll want to choose an application track: Early Action (non-binding) or Regular Decision. Please review our key deadlines to determine which works best for you.

Admissions Application

Next, you’ll submit your application for admission. Candidates are encouraged to complete the Menlo College First-Year Express Application to fast-track your admissions decision. You are also welcome to apply using the Common Application. Only one application is required.

Transcript(s)

All first-year applicants must submit their high school transcript(s). Transcripts may be submitted electronically through our secure upload link (emailed to you after submitting the Menlo First-Year Express Application), via the Common Application, through an electronic transcript service such as Parchment or Naviance, or by mail.

If you have taken any college courses while in high school (e.g., Dual Enrollment, Middle College), please also submit those college transcripts for a review of transfer credits (Reference Transferring Your Credits and Current Agreements).

Note: We accept unofficial transcripts for preliminary assessment, but final official high school transcripts, including graduation date if applicable, are required before students may attend classes. Official transcripts must be sent via an electronic transcript service (i.e., Parchment) or by mail.

Personal Statement (Optional)

While submitting a personal essay is optional, it can provide us with additional insights into your background, interests, or goals. If you choose to submit one, you can upload it directly through the Menlo College Express application or include it in the Common App.

Letter of Recommendation (Optional)

A letter of recommendation is optional unless specifically requested by the Office of Admissions. However, it will not disadvantage your application if you choose to submit one. Your letter of recommendation must be submitted by your recommender directly. If you choose to include one, you may provide your recommender’s information in the Menlo College Express Application, and they will receive upload instructions. If you’re applying through the Common App, your recommender may upload it via the Common App.

Test Scores (Optional)

Menlo College grants college credit for AP, International Baccalaureate (IB) (higher level only), and A-Level exams. Please submit official test scores to receive credit.

Official test scores may be submitted in the following ways:

Menlo has allowed me to meet incredible people and gain experiences that have shaped who I am today. I’ve had the privilege of traveling to Europe with a few of my close friends, leading and organizing initiatives for clubs and organizations, and representing my peers as their Student Body President. Menlo has been more than just a college– it’s been a place of great opportunity and development.
