Shifting Perspectives – Silicon Valley Sculpture Fine Art Fair Returns September 2021

Silicon Valley, CA — February 2021 — Following the resounding success of the Silicon Valley Sculpture (SVS) fine art fair in 2020, the non-profit Menlo Park Public Art (MPPA) is pleased to announce that SVS will return September 23-26, 2021.

Reflecting these momentous times for humanity, “Shifting Perspectives” is our 2021 reflective and inspiring theme that participating artists are asked to envision and interpret in their sculptural work. Over forty unique and diverse sculptures will be showcased on the beautiful, serene campus grounds of Menlo College, in Atherton, CA. The public is invited to experience world-class monumental art, thought-provoking panel discussions, and re-imagine the civic commons for collective healing.

Bay Area Sculptor Ryan Carrington says:

“From the literal aesthetic shifting perspectives that you see from walking about a sculpture, to the conceptual nature of attitudes and valuing what is important in life, the notion of shifting perspectives can be really stretched out. From addressing centuries of racism and racial bias, to the democratic process, to the way that we look at doctors and the field of medicine, the year 2020 has shifted the perspective on every corner of life.”

The theme for SVS 2020 last September, “Past, Present, and Progressive” became the conceptual framework for showcasing both established and up-and-coming sculptors from the SF Bay area and elsewhere, including internationally-renowned German French lead artist, Rotraut. Also featured, from Washington, DC, was Foon Sham, whose epic piece ‘Princess’ was donated to Menlo College following the fair, and is available for the public’s viewing pleasure on the campus grounds. For three days last September, SVS 2020 soothed, relieved, surprised, delighted, engaged, and challenged viewers. Visitors shared their experiences and curiosity in dialog with artists, while graceful ballet dancers from New Ballet performed around sculptures on opening night in contemplative silence. Guest speaker panels explored the landscape of outdoor art as part of a nation’s critical infrastructure that transforms and animates private/public space and rebuilds our social fabric – an essential experience for both the individual and the collective community.

SVS 2021 aims to define Silicon Valley. It is not to be missed.
