Dr. Yanping Wong earned her Master’s degree in Chinese Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder before pursuing her Ph.D. in East Asian Literatures and Cultures at Stanford University. Her research explores pre-modern Chinese literature, culture, and religion, with a particular focus on late imperial fiction. Over the past decade, Dr. Wong has taught a wide range of courses on Asian languages, literatures, cultures, and history.
Beyond academia, Dr. Wong is a proud cat mom to four fur babies. She is passionate about animal rescue and animal welfare, having volunteered her time to support shelters and foster programs. She also loves cooking and baking, often experimenting with new recipes to share with friends and family. In quieter moments, she can be found reading detective novels, a favorite pastime that reflects her enjoyment of uncovering hidden narratives — an interest that also inspires her research.
