Karen Peña teaches English and literature courses with an emphasis on cross-cultural analysis. She earned her M.A. in Comparative Literature from San Francisco State University, specializing in postmodern and postcolonial theory, and ancient to contemporary literature of the Americas. Peña’s work takes a particular interest in examining how metafictional devices, specifically representations of readers and audiences, affect readers’ approaches to texts. Prior to teaching at Menlo, Peña tutored at a writing center and taught world literature and first-year experience courses at San Francisco State.
