Biography

A California native who has lived across the globe, Erik Bakke is the Dean of International Education and Academic Success at Menlo College. Bakke’s overarching interest at Menlo is to help both international and domestic students maximize their opportunities and expand the global reach of their educational experience. In his administrative role, he works with a wide variety of programs including those of Bowman Library, the Writing Center, Tutoring, Rising Scholars, Mentoring, Study Abroad, International Student Services, and the Intensive English Program. He began working in the Writing Center at Menlo College fifteen years ago. Since the start of his career, he has enjoyed working with a variety of intensive English and writing programs and as an editor for print and web-based publications.

Also, as a painter in a contemporary art tradition, Bakke has maintained a studio practice for over forty years and has shown his work regularly since his first solo exhibition in 1991 in Kobe, Japan.
