Cambria Chou-Freed

Adjunct Professor

Biography

Dr. Cambria Chou-Freed is devoted to biology undergraduate education. Born and raised in San Francisco, she received her B.S. in Neurobiology from Brown University and her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UCSF. For her graduate research, she worked in the labs of Dr. Diane Barber and Dr. Dan Wagner to investigate the role of intracellular pH dynamics during zebrafish larval tail regeneration. Zebrafish have the fascinating capacity to regenerate their tails after amputation, and her work identified that an increase in intracellular pH in amputated tail tissue is necessary for regeneration to occur properly. During her PhD, she also taught at the University of San Francisco. She is looking forward to combining her training in science and pedagogy to co-teach SEA-PHAGES at Menlo College.
