VITA Program Successfully Concludes

From January to March 2013, twelve Menlo College students under the direction of Jack Klingler, Professor of Accounting, provided free income tax preparation services to students and other eligible taxpayers as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Professor Klingler and the students held four 4-hour sessions and helped prepare sixty-five tax returns, which amounted to refunds of $30,000.

“It was exciting working as a team and helping other students from our school,” said junior accounting major and VITA volunteer, Cameron York. “The VITA program provided a great learning experience and life skills that everyone needs to know.”

The program received positive feedback from Menlo students and Professor Klingler plans to continue and expand the program next year drawing more people from outside the Menlo community.
