Sambhab Thapaliya ‘21: ASMI Startup Investment Event and Funding Success

ATHERTON, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2020) – Menlo College student Sambhab Thapaliya ’21 is the winner of the 2020 Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award. He is also founder and CEO of Augmented and Segmented Media Interface Corporation (ASMI), for which he has raised over $500,000 in start-up funding. Thapaliya will be holding an investment event for his up and coming startup this month.

Evidencing the burgeoning entrepreneurship field at Menlo College, the virtual event will give attendees the opportunity to join an online investment pitch about ASMI. Thapaliya has already secured funding from investment firms like Dorm Room Fund and Rough Draft Ventures, as well as funding from angel investor and NBA champion Matthew Dellavedova. ASMI has also received generous funding from managing partners at funds like DoubleRock VC, Quest Venture Partners, Trail Run Capital, Essence VCm, and GP Bullhound.

ASMI is an innovative company that focuses on advertising within internet streamed media (or over-the-top streaming), specifically within user-generated content such as video game streaming, short video content, and live stream video. The company uses AI to find vacant areas within a video that can be monetized by placing products and e-commerce advertisements relevant to users. At its current capacity, ASMI has the ability to deliver up to 4 trillion ads a year for customers all over the world.

“It is inspiring to see one of our most recent student startups advance so considerably. We are proud to be a part of Sambhab’s startup success. His progress is a testament to his effort, as well as the long line of successful entrepreneurs to be born of the Menlo College education. Sambhab and his fellow Menlo entrepreneurs continue to perpetuate excellence and innovation in Silicon Valley and beyond,” says Menlo College President Steven Weiner.

The ASMI online investment event will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 2:00-3:30 pm (PST). To attend, register here!
