Menlo’s First Choir Concert

Last week, Professor Kathryn Latour and her Choral Class welcomed the Menlo College community to the school’s first choir concert “Fields of Gold”. The show featured 39 students who performed spiritual, modern, and canon pieces.

This semester marked the first time in Menlo’s modern history that a Choir Class was held as part of the college curriculum. Professor Latour initially joined Menlo in the Fall of 2012 to teach an International Law & Organizations PSP course.

“Singing as a choral group is more than just learning the notes and learning how to sing them correctly,” said Latour. “It is about each choral member learning how to listen to one another so that the resultant blend and balance adds to the overall experience, and together they may convey the emotional intent of the piece. This is what the Menlo College Choir does best.”
