Menlo College’s 2019 Commencement Speaker Yasunobu Kyogoku, Founding Partner of Innovation Global Capital

Menlo College is pleased to announce the selection of Yasunobu Kyogoku as the speaker for the commencement ceremonies that will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, on the college’s campus in Atherton, California.

Yasunobu Kyogoku is the founding partner of Innovation Global Capital, a venture capital firm that builds transformative early stage companies disrupting consumer industries through technology and innovation. Funds managed by Innovation Global Capital are investors in enterprise technology companies and rapidly growing consumer brands such as Rothy’s. Mr. Kyogoku is also an advisor to ItoEn Co. Ltd., the $4 billion revenue beverage company.

As Chief Investment Officer and Member of the Executive Management Committee of the $36 billion company Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., Mr. Kyogoku’s acquisitions created the largest affordable luxury apparel group in the world. As Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo USA, Mr. Kyogoku played a pivotal role in developing the Uniqlo brand from a single New York store into a national phenomenon. At Mori Building, Mr. Kyogoku helped create one of Japan’s first real estate investment trusts, now worth several billion dollars.

After graduating from Columbia University, Mr. Kyogoku attended graduate schools at Oxford University and Tokyo University. He began his career at the management consultancy Bain & Company.  He has appeared frequently in print and on television, including CNBC, CBS, Bloomberg, Fox Business, Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Nikkei, WWD and local TV affiliates of ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. He is a trustee of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Zoological Society.
