In Memoriam – Glenn Lloyd

Glenn Lloyd '63, an enthusiastic Menlo College alumnus and former trustee, passed away on June 8th, 2010. He was 68 years old.

“Glenn was a true Menloite,” said Dorothy Skala, Director Emerita of Alumni Relations. “While at Menlo he was active in student government and in Student Affairs.”

Dorothy added that Glenn never really left Menlo after graduating. “As an alum he was active in the Alumni Association and made himself known to many. He will be missed.”

Glenn used the knowledge he gained from Menlo, along with his own ambition, to develop and operate successful businesses. He later shared the fruits of his experiences with Menlo College by teaching classes in marketing and entrepreneurship.

He was on the Board of Trustees at Menlo for nine years and chaired the Student Academic Affairs Committee.

His strong bond and loyalty to his fellow Menlo alums was further exhibited as he helped the Office of External Affairs during the transition of Dorothy's retirement.

Much of Glenn's free time was spent supporting the Menlo community in other ways as well.

“Glenn loved Menlo College with all his heart and soul. He was a fixture at Menlo home basketball games,” said Menlo College President Dr. G. Timothy Haight. “The players and fans will miss him.”

Throughout all the changes at Menlo over the years, Glenn was a steady presence. His absence will surely be felt by those who knew him.

A celebration of Glenn Lloyd's life will be held on Sunday, June 13 at 2:00pm at the Club House in Foster City.
