Hanna Malak in NAIA/Red Cross Leadership Program

Hanna Malak was 1 of 13 student athletes in the country to be chosen for the 2010-2011 NAIA/ American Red Cross Collegiate Leadership Program. This program involved traveling to Washington, DC and attending meetings, workshops, and seminars. During their free time, the group was able to sight see and even make it into the White House. The leadership group was able to meet and discuss leadership with the CEO of The American Red Cross, Gail McGovern, the Executive VP of the Washington National's baseball team, Bob Wolfe, and the Executive VP of Starbucks, Paula Boggs. After two weeks in DC, each of the 13 students now must plan blood drives on their campus. As a result of the program, Hanna was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Northern California Region of The American Red Cross.

Hanna said, “This was a once in a life time opportunity. The Red Cross and the NAIA are two great organizations that really make a difference in the world and in lives of athletes. I can not wait to give back by throwing huge blood drives at Menlo. I learned so much from this program and will never forget the other student athletes that I met.”
