ATHERTON, Calif. — May 22, 2017 – Today the Board of Trustees of Menlo College announced that President, Dr. Richard Moran will retire from the College in August 2017. In recognition of his many achievements for the College, the Board of Trustees will bestow the honorary title of President Emeritus on Dr. Moran after he completes his term as president.

In reflecting on his tenure at Menlo, Dr. Moran noted that, “This has been the most important and fulfilling experience of my professional life. I love Menlo College, and I think the timing is right for me to retire, both for me and for the college.”

Dr. Moran has been at Menlo College since 2014.

“Dr. Moran has made extraordinary strides for Menlo College in his tenure as president, and has set the college in a positive new direction,” said Geir Ramleth, Menlo College class of 1987 and chair of the board of trustees. “We thank Rich for his work on the college’s behalf and wish him well in his well-deserved retirement.”

An executive committee of the board of trustees has been established to oversee the transition.

Menlo College has enjoyed unprecedented growth and development during Moran’s tenure. During that time, the college:

  • Increased enrollment to record levels;
  • Expanded the faculty and the curriculum;
  • Enhanced the College’s reputation and introduced a new brand;
  • Created the President’s Diversity Advisory Committee and appointed a leader for diversity and community partnerships; and
  • Completed the renovation of facilities for classroom, office and athletic space.

Moran holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers College, an M.S. from Miami University and Ph.D. from Miami University. Previously, he served as a Partner at Venrock and a Partner at Accenture.
