Business Incubator Hatches at Menlo College

Three seasoned Silicon Valley professionals with prior start-up and angel investor experience are working closely with Menlo College to launch an on-campus business incubator. Menlo Incubator's founders are Gary Kremen, Steve Bennet and Eric King. Kremen, an entrepreneur, inventor, executive and investor started Match.com. Bennet is a serial Silicon Valley start-up CFO, active angel investor and has taught entrepreneurship at U.C. Berkeley and San Jose State. King is the founder of Gladius Capital Group, and over his career has led or advised on acquisitions or divestitures totaling nearly $12 billion.

“After we get started, we plan on involving the entire Menlo community as much as possible,” said Kremen. The incubator has informally launched in the Fall 2010 semester. The full launch will be in the Spring.

Business incubators offer resources and services to help entrepreneurs develop their companies. Menlo Incubator will enhance and accelerate Menlo College's emerging entrepreneurship and internships programs, as well as provide a launch pad for interesting start-ups that leverage the College's and incubator's wealth of resources.

“With the introduction of this forward thinking program on Menlo's campus by Silicon Valley leaders, we have taken a giant step ahead as Silicon Valley's Business School, for now we have become a center for innovation and contributor to the future of business,” said President G. Timothy Haight.

Headquarters for Menlo Incubator will be on the lower level of Kratt Hall. They are on the web at www.MenloIncubator.com, on Facebook at facebook.com/MenloIncubator and Twitter at twitter.com/MenloIncubator.

The founders intend to launch great companies, provide Menlo students with real-world experience and further burnish the College's reputation locally and beyond. This includes those who will look for full-time employment and those who will help run their family businesses.

“On behalf of the students at Menlo College, I am thrilled to be a part of the incubator program,” said Hanna Malak, President of Menlo College's Student Government Association. “We are fortunate to have Gary Kremen's mentorship. The incubator will provide support to our young entrepreneurs that can not be found anywhere else.”
