Basketball Season Kicks Off

November 3, 2011

The Menlo Oaks basketball team open their 2011-12 season today with a home game against the Eagles of Biola University. Lady Oaks will face Biola University tomorrow in their first game.

Last season was extremely successful for the men’s basketball team—they won their third California Pacific Conference title, the first in nearly a decade. The Oaks start the new season with a core of returning players like Tim Tatum, Carlos Monroy, and Andrew Young, as well as several promising newcomers. Another significant addition to the 2011-12 squad is Menlo's newest assistant coaches Brandon Walker and Nick McCullar.

For the past four years, the Lady Oaks have finished second in the California Pacific Conference. And now, gaining seven new players, the team hopes to win the title. Head Coach Shannon Osborne, now in her fourth year, expects the returning players to fill the gap created by the loss of three productive seniors and to expand the team’s potential.
