Alan Salzman to Speak at Commencement

“Make change your friend and use it,” said Alan Salzman, co-founder and CEO of VantagePoint Capital Partners, in his keynote speech about the changing world of technology at Menlo College's 2011 Commencement (https://www.menlo.edu/commencement/) ceremony. Mr. Salzman is widely recognized as one of Silicon Valley's leading venture capitalists and a global expert in the field of clean technology and entrepreneurial innovation. With over $4.5 billion under management and offices in Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, and Beijing, VantagePoint is considered the leading global investment firm specializing in clean-technology and clean-energy investments.

Mr. Salzman has been the lead investor behind a variety of successful technology, healthcare and clean-technology companies including social-networking site MySpace, electric-vehicle maker Tesla Motors, utility-scale solar-power producer BrightSource Energy and LED lighting companies Bridgelux and Switch.

Mr. Salzman is passionate about the use of technology to solve global resource shortages and is a frequent keynote speaker and contributor at events such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Climate Week in New York City and the United Nations Investor Summit on Climate Risk. For more than a decade he served as Adjunct Professor for Venture Capital and Entrepreneurial Companies at Stanford University, serves on the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and the Climate Group, is active in numerous global clean-technology organizations, and was recently inducted into the Greentech Hall of Fame.

Mr. Salzman is a graduate of the London School of Economics (GC), the University of Toronto (BA), Stanford Law School (JD) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (LLM).
