4th Season of VITA at Menlo College

The fourth season of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is beginning at Menlo College. Sponsored by the United Way and the IRS, this program is for low/middle income taxpayers (those with incomes less than $54,000). VITA is comprised of Menlo College accounting and finance students who have undergone 24 hours of training and passed a series of rigorous exams. It has been extremely successful, preparing an average of 100 tax returns each year and serving the Menlo College and surrounding communities. If you would like to take advantage of this beneficial and free service, here is the information you need to know:

What to bring:

  • All W-2s and other tax documents received (including a Form 1098-T for Tuition/Scholarship received from Menlo)
  • Social security card and photo ID
  • Bank account information if you want direct deposit for any refund
  • Information on your medical insurance coverage in 2014 (new under the Affordable Care Act). Basically, you should know whether you had full insurance coverage for 2014 and, if you bought insurance from Covered California, you should bring the Form 1095A which you should have received from them.
  • 2014 tax return (if available)
