Menlo College Athletics Announces Addition of Men’s Volleyball in 17-18

Menlo College has announced Men’s Volleyball as the newest addition to its varsity sport offerings beginning with the 2017-18 academic year. Men’s Volleyball marks the 16th varsity sport at Menlo College and is a natural fit for the area considering the high level of prep play in the heart of Menlo’s recruiting markets, California and Hawai’i, according to Director of Athletics Keith Spataro.

“When you take into account the strong talent pool of high school volleyball players in California and Hawai’i and the continued growth of the sport at the college level, particularly on the west coast, it was a natural progression to add Men’s Volleyball to our varsity sport offerings,” noted Spataro. “We look forward to competing at a high-level while providing our student-athletes with a top-notch intercollegiate athletics experience.”

Menlo Athletics’ governing body, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) classifies Men’s Volleyball as an emerging sport with 32 member institutions currently offering the sport at the varsity level. The sport is recognized by the NAIA which endorses a national invitational event to conclude each season.  Men’s volleyball at Menlo College will play its first ever regular season in the spring of 2018. A nationwide search for the program’s first head coach is currently ongoing.
