Getting Involved in the Local Community

Menlo College held its fourth annual Special Olympics Basketball Tournament on March 4, 2013. Menlo students provided a fun environment for children with disabilities from ten middle schools in the Bay Area to play and socialize.

“Hosting this event on our campus provides the students with a small taste of college and gets them excited for their future,” said Katrina Smith, president of the Menlo College Student Government Association. “It really gives them motivation to do well in school and achieve what may seem impossible. Menlo students also love volunteering for this event. We get to see true compassion and kindness shine through the Oaks as they interact with these inspiring kids.”
