The Student Success Center integrates the Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, and Accommodation Services to provide a seamless, holistic support network for our student body.

This part-time, temporary position focuses heavily on the critical onboarding window, co-managing a caseload of incoming students throughout the summer months and into the start of the academic year. Working collaboratively within a team environment, the Coach will serve as a primary guide for new students and their families, helping them navigate foundational milestones, resolve financial and academic holds, and seamlessly transition into the Menlo College community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Student Success Coaching: Co-manage a dedicated caseload of incoming students; provide proactive, personalized guidance to students and their families via one-on-one meetings (in-person and virtual) and group workshops.
  • Milestone Navigation: Guide students through crucial onboarding milestones, including course registration, completing required institutional forms, and preparing for their first semester.
  • Issue Resolution: Assist students in identifying and resolving academic and financial holds by collaborating directly with Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Academic Advising teams.
  • Resource Connection: Educate students on how to navigate and utilize vital campus resources, including Accessibility Services, tutoring, and student life programming.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Co-develop and deliver engaging workshops and informational sessions designed to streamline the enrollment and onboarding process for groups of students and families.

  • Financial Aid Awareness: A foundational understanding of how federal and California state aid programs (such as the Cal Grant and FAFSA/CADAA processes) impact a student & account and enrollment status.
  • Teamwork & Organization: Strong collaborative skills for effective caseload co-management, paired with excellent time-management skills to handle peak summer and fall onboarding seasons.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to explain complex institutional processes clearly and empathetically to diverse student populations and their families.
  • Commitment to Equity: A student-first mindset and a passion for supporting diverse student populations as they transition into higher education.

About Menlo College

Menlo College is doing transformative work with an incredibly diverse population of students, about one-third of whom are the first in their families to attend college. Almost 100 years old, this small gem of a private college – with less than 900 students – is changing lives and providing a stream of inspiring, diverse and capable graduates to Silicon Valley companies and organizations. The private school offers four-year undergraduate degrees in business and psychology, and two graduate programs that leverage key areas of excellence within the College.

Menlo College faculty members teach and mentor from their perspectives as scholars, entrepreneurs, managers, and community leaders. Menlo College attracts students from all over the world — young adults who are committed to learning, playing intercollegiate sports, starting and leading organizations, and volunteering in the community. The campus is located 30 miles south of San Francisco in Silicon Valley, one of the world’s most entrepreneurial and innovative locations. Silicon Valley is renowned as an innovation incubator with many opportunities for experience-based learning.

Menlo College is consistently included in lists of America’s best colleges, including citations by the Princeton Review. AffordableCollegesOnline.org (AC Online) has brought additional recognition to the quality of the Menlo College experience when the organization named Menlo as one of the 4-year colleges in California with the best lifetime return on investment (ROI). The diversity of Menlo students is reflected in two federal designations: as a Hispanic Serving Institution and as an Asian American, Native American and Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (a dual designation earned by only 1% of all colleges and universities in the U.S.). Menlo is also one of the safest campuses anywhere; Universities.com ranks Menlo first in California, and fourth in the nation as the “safest college campus in America.”
