Position Overview:

The Menlo College Athletics Department seeks applications for the position of Head Women’s Flag Football Coach. This is a full-time, 48-week, exempt position and reports jointly to the Assistant Athletic Director and the Vice President for Athletics. The description of responsibilities below is intended to be descriptive but not necessarily all-inclusive.

The Head Women’s Flag Football Coach is responsible for the recruitment and retention of student-athletes and program development to produce successful individual and team performance. The individual must be committed to a holistic approach to developing student-athletes as leaders in the classroom, in the community, and in competition. The position exercises independent judgment and discretion on matters of significance including recruiting strategy, roster management, scholarship allocation input, budget planning, staff supervision, and program policy implementation.

The Head Women’s Flag Football Coach must provide leadership, management, and strategic planning for the Women’s Flag Football program. This includes budgeting, fundraising, staffing and staff development, supervision of program implementation, facilities planning and management, and evaluation of program effectiveness.

The position will abide by all NCAA Division II, affiliated conference, and Menlo College Athletics Department rules and regulations. Failure to follow NCAA, conference, or Menlo College rules may result in dismissal from all duties.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership in responding to student needs and College issues related to Menlo’s athletics program.

  • Effectively coordinate the recruitment of student-athletes according to Menlo College admission standards and policies established by the College and the NCAA.
  • Establish a written set of aims, goals, objectives, and values for the Women’s Flag Football program.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities for self and staff relating to coaching and recruiting strategies and techniques for the purpose of enhancing the program’s competitiveness and the development of student-athletes.
  • Actively promote, publicize, and enhance a positive image for Menlo College.
  • Develop and administer the program operating budget, exercise authority over program expenditures, and provide strategic financial input to Athletics leadership.
  • Assure that staff and student-athletes comply with appropriate Menlo and NCAA policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate and recommend revisions to policies regarding travel, schedules, and other issues related to the Women’s Flag Football program.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to foster community service projects, academic success, campus engagement, and character development.
  • Manage, supervise, hire, evaluate, and discipline coaching staff consistent with institutional policy.

Accountability

Accountable for assisting in the overall management of the Athletics Department, including administrative duties and the care and leadership of the Women’s Flag Football team. The Head Women’s Flag Football Coach must abide by all applicable NCAA, athletic conference, and Menlo College Athletics Department rules and regulations. The primary duty of this position consists of administrative and program management functions directly related to Athletics operations.

Strategic Plan Accountability

This position is accountable for the execution, documentation, and annual review of assigned Athletics Strategic Plan goals. Responsibilities include participation in required governance meetings, contribution to annual evidence and reporting cycles, and collaboration with campus partners to support institutional outcomes aligned with Athletics priorities.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of coaching experience, with preference given to candidates with intercollegiate experience.
  • A dedication to the success of student-athletes in their academic and athletic endeavors and a commitment to integrity and respect for all members of the campus community.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and manage the Women’s Flag Football program.
  • Ability to work non-traditional schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Prior fundraising experience preferred.
