Reports to: Director of Graduate Business Programs Position Type: Part-Time, Adjunct Faculty Compensation: $8,805 per course Deadline: Open until filled Target Start Date: June 2027
Menlo College seeks well-qualified applicants for a part-time adjunct faculty position to teach Data Repositories and Cloud Infrastructure Course in the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program, Analytics Track. Cloud technologies serve as the collection of services and solutions many organizations develop on, deploy on, rely upon, and conduct critical business on for their day-to-day operations. Many organizations have migrated from traditional data repositories and data systems to cloud data lakes and platforms appropriate for reporting, aggregating, analyzing, and making decisions based on resulting conclusions. The course presents cloud service and deployment models as well as the services, solutions, infrastructure, platforms, and software tools used to accommodate sizeable data repositories. We are particularly interested in a candidate who combines academic expertise with handson professional experience in cloud computing, data infrastructure, and enterprise information systems.
The successful candidate should have an earned Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from a reputable university. Candidates must have at least three years of relevant industry experience in cloud computing, data engineering, data architecture, database systems, or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated knowledge of cloud infrastructure, data repositories, data lakes, database technologies, modern data architectures, and major cloud environments, as well as prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Candidates must be able to connect technical concepts with business and organizational applications. They must also possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work in a collaborative and collegial environment.
The position requires graduate teaching in Data Repositories and Cloud Infrastructure, preparation and delivery of lectures, demonstrations, exercises, and applied learning activities, and assessment of student learning. The adjunct faculty member will teach concepts related to cloud service and deployment models, data storage, data repositories, data lakes, infrastructure, platforms, and associated software tools; incorporate contemporary industry technologies and business use cases; develop practical assignments or projects; provide timely feedback; maintain regular communication with students; support course and program learning-outcome assessment; and collaborate with the Graduate Program Director as needed to maintain alignment with the MSIS curriculum.
