Accounting – Open Rank Position

Menlo College invites applicants for an open rank position in Accounting. The college seeks individuals with a strong background in teaching and scholarly research in the area of Accounting or a closely related field.

Menlo College is a diverse four-year undergraduate college with a variety of majors in business and psychology. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for careers while integrating their studies within a liberal arts foundation. The college is located in Silicon Valley which allows students a variety of internship experiences and real world learning. Menlo is a small but growing school (~750 enrollment) that offers small classes that allow close faculty-student interaction.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB accredited school (degree must be completed and awarded prior to appointment date).

Candidates must be able and qualified to teach classes at the undergraduate level in areas such as Financial Accounting Managerial Accounting, Accounting Ethics or specialized electives. Candidates must have an active record of scholarship related to their specialty area. Excellence in both teaching and scholarship must be demonstrated.

Candidates are preferred who have teaching and/or research experience with a diverse student body, and who have experience in multicultural settings. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a collaborative and collegial environment.

Responsibilities

The position requires undergraduate teaching in Accounting, with possible secondary assignments in related topics, mentoring and advising undergraduate students, maintaining an active ongoing scholarship program in one’s area of specialty, and active ongoing engagement in shared governance and other service assignments.

Rank and Salary

Open rank. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Menlo College does not have a tenure system: instead contracts of one, three or six years are offered depending on academic rank.
