Alumnus Ezra Shaffer, Marketing Pro for DC Shoes

Ezra Harry Shaffer '00 (Business Management) is now the Global Director of Digital Marketing at DC Shoes, which is a division of Quiksilver. Ezra was brought into DC Shoes to revise their global brand strategy for the on-line world. “It is a huge undertaking, but I am certainly feeling up for the challenge.”

His new role at DC Shoes is to build and oversee their Digital Marketing department. The goal is to revise, implement, and manage their global brand strategy and content for their rapidly growing on-line audience. This immense task will include guiding the brand presence and communications on the website (, social media, e-mail marketing, on-line media, Search Marketing, mobile, gaming, new media opportunities, and beyond. Today DC stands as a global brand whose product line has expanded to include men's, women's and kids' skateboarding and lifestyle shoes, apparel, snowboard boots, outerwear, and accessories.

“I have always felt that you will never be successful unless you can wrap your heart around what you want to succeed at. This new job presents an opportunity for me to validate that theory. As a former skateboarder and snowboarder, I did not have to dig deep to find the passion in talking about skateboarding and snowboarding all day. In essence, that is what I do, and the only challenge is in simply managing the passion.”

Prior to DC Shoes, Ezra was the Account Supervisor at Rubin Postaer & Associates (RPA), a full-service advertising and marketing agency in Santa Monica. He has also worked in Interactive Marketing for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in their Automobiles Division.

Ezra and his wife are happily residing in Redondo Beach.
