Jodie Austin, Ph.D.


Dr. Jodie Austin graduated with a B.A. in English from UC Santa Barbara and earned her Ph.D from Brandeis University in 2014. Her doctoral dissertation examined the impact of the plague on the literary culture in 17th England. Her forthcoming chapter examining depictions of amputation and prosthesis in 17th century medical treatises will appear in an anthology, Disability in Early Modern Literature, to be published by Palgrave-Macmillan in Fall 2018. Her other interests include studies in video game studies, adaptations of Shakespeare, the history of medicine, and the digital humanities.
