Conscious Capitalism/Corporate Social Responsibility

9:00am – 10:15amBreakfast and Keynote Speaker:  Breakfast in the Dining Commons followed by the Keynote address.  The keynote speaker will be Dr. Emmett Carson.  Dr. Carson is CEO and President of Silicon Valley Community Foundation which has nearly $3 billion under management.   In 2012 the Foundation made $294 million in grants to a variety of organizations that support the community.  The speech will commence between 9:30 and 9:45.  The meal will require reservations for students, faculty, alumni and staff.  Expected attire will be business dress.

  1. Mini-Business-Plan Elevator Pitches from Eleven Sections of MGT 101
  2. Marketing:  Ms. Lisa Westerman, Wells Fargo Social Responsibility Team
  3. Ethics:  Ms. Victoria A. Stewart, Senior Attorney, Seagate Technology
  4. Management:  Dr. Kathi Lovelace, presentation on Workplace Health and Wellness

1:00pm – 1:50pm“Meet the Executive” Speaker Series – Mr. Nick Hofer of Boston Private Bank and Trust Company will speak about his experiences and his work in Brawner 407 (The Pit).  Mr. Hofer is the head of the West Coast sales team for Boston Private Bank.
2:00pm - 4:00pmMini-Business Plan Competition:  Presentations of mini-business plans by the five finalists determined by the earlier 2-minute elevator pitches in the Florence Moore Auditorium.  Presentations will be judged by a panel of external experts from the SBA Advisory Board.  Cash prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the competition to the first, second, and third place winners.  There will be raffle prizes for students in attendance.
