| Do
I need primary insurance
before I am allowed to participate
in intercollegiate sport?
|
Yes,
in order to be allowed to
participate in athletics
at Menlo College all athletes
must show proof of valid
primary insurance. In addition,
the primary insurance should
be valid for the entire
year, not just the athlete’s
season.
|
| Do
I need a physical before
I begin practicing with
my team? |
| Yes,
all athletes are required
to obtain a pre-participation
physical examination prior
to any intercollegiate athletic
activity. Athletes should
make an appointment with their
primary care physicians and
complete all forms provided
by the Menlo College Sports
Medicine department. |
| I
have an HMO. Should I switch
my primary care physician?
|
| Yes,
all athletes that have an
HMO-type insurance should
contact their insurance carrier
and change their primary care
physician to a physician located
in San Mateo or Santa Clara
Counties. Changing primary
care physicians will help
athletes receive faster care
if they become injured or
need medical attention. |
| My
son/daughter was injured.
What do I need to know about
Menlo College’s secondary
insurance?
|
Your
son/daughter is covered by
Menlo College’s secondary
athletic insurance policy.
However, there are limits
on the coverage. Please refer
to the Insurance Information.
|
| I
am an international student.
Is my international insurance
acceptable? |
| An
international health policy
is only acceptable if the
plan covers an athlete during
intercollegiate athletic participation.
All international students
must provide to the head athletic
trainer a letter certifying
that the athlete is covered
while participating in intercollegiate
athletics. Athletes that do
not provide this letter will
be required to purchase the
plan offered by Menlo College. |
