Telephone Service

The Office of Information Technology provides telephone and Internet services for all areas on the Menlo College campus.

Telephone Service Activation

Campus residents who wish to have telephone service in their living space should fill out a simple subscription form online. Once the form has been submitted, stop by the Office of Information Technology during business hours to pick up your digital telephone.

New personnel will be assigned an office telephone upon completion of new hire orientation.

About Your Telephone

Every telephone service subscriber is allocated a CISCO 7960 IP PHONE. Only these phones will operate in the Menlo College offices and residence halls. Your telephone number is shown in the upper right-hand corner of the display screen. Callers may dial this number for a direct connection.

Phone Bills

Residents who subscribe to a global calling plan will be billed on a per-minute basis. View our current flat CALLING RATES. Subscribers will receive a bill around the 15th of each month in the mail and in electronic format via email. Any inquiries regarding telephone bills should be directed to SoftCopy Technologies, Inc.

In an Emergency

Dialing 911 from any campus phone will connect you directly to the local emergency response center.

If you need to contact a Menlo College secuirty officer, simply press the * and your call will be automatically directed to a guard on duty. You may also dial 4398 to connect to the security desk.

Customer Support

Service issues and inquiries may be submitted to the Menlo College Telecommunications Hotline by dialing 611 from any campus phone, or 1-800-55-MENLO ext. 3830.

Internet Service

Menlo College provides every student resident with a dedicated high-speed connection to the Internet from the dormitory room. All you need is a standard Ethernet connection to the personal computer and you are online. The service is always on. There is no dial-up or login required. Internet service is provided at no additional cost to the student.

Security

Internet security is important in protecting your computer from potential threats and in protecting yourself from having your personal information compromised. The Menlo College network features the following security safeguards:

  • Firewall - protects computers on campus from exposure to outside threats such as hackers and hijackers.
  • Traffic Shaping - guarantees quality of service so that you can rely on your Internet connection to deliver the web content you need, when you need it.
  • Virus and Spam Protection - protects computers from harmful viruses, spyware, adware, and unwanted email messages.
  • Intrusion Prevention Services - monitor the network for voluntary and involuntary intrusions, such as denial of service (DOS) attacks
