Reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management

Responsibility Summary

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the direction and coordination of all activities pertaining to the administration of financial aid programs offered at Menlo College, as well as the overall responsibility for the general supervision and operation of the Financial Aid Office. Incumbent works closely with the Dean of Enrollment Management on budgets, strategies for delivery of student financial aid, and the analysis and implementation of appropriate financial aid models. This position maintains a shared accountability for overall enrollment goals and models excellence in customer service as the foundation for counseling Menlo College students and parents.

Specific Responsibilities

The following outline is intended to be descriptive rather than inclusive regarding overall responsibilities.

  • Oversees and supervises the day-to-day operations within the Financial Aid Office

  • Implements procedures, guidelines, and financial aid processes in accordance with current federal and
    state regulations, as well as College policies and procedures

  • Directs the financial aid award process in accordance with current federal and state regulations and
    College guidelines

  • Serves as the financial aid liaison to other Enrollment Management departments; recommends policies,
    procedures, goals and objectives in relation to financial aid

  • Researches, interprets, and applies state and federal regulations, including guidelines to Title IV
    programs

  • Develops and monitors the Financial Aid Office budget, including personnel needs and departmental
    operating expenses

  • Completes all required federal, state and athletic reports in conjunction with other offices

  • Counsels students and families on their financial aid options

  • Assists students with complaints and appeals about decisions made concerning federal, state, and
    College policies

  • Maintains appropriate records as required by federal and state regulations

  • Completes all required surveys in conjunction with other offices

  • Completes projects and reports as assigned

Accountability

The Director of Financial Aid is accountable for the overall operation of the Financial Aid Office and for being in compliance with state and federal student financial aid regulations. In addition, the Director is accountable, along with other campus offices, for the overall success of enrollment development activities at the College.

Qualifications

The following combination of education and experience is required for the position:
  • Baccalaureate degree required, masters preferred

  • Baccalaureate degree required, masters preferred

  • Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience in financial aid or other related areas of student
    affairs

  • Working knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs and applicable rules and regulations

  • Knowledge and utilization of Title IV regulations

  • Familiarity with financial aid office software applications and web-based systems including Powerfaids,
    EdConnect, Webgrants, COD and ELM

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
