Menlo College Bestows Special Award upon Alumnus Tang Wee Sung ’74 Web Master | January 16, 2014 Tang Wee Sung ’74, Chairman of TANGS, will be presented with the Menlo College President’s Medal in honor of his business accomplishments and support for the College. This special award, to be bestowed at TANGS Orchard on Friday, January 17, 2014, recognizes Mr. Tang's service to Menlo College and his extraordinary leadership in business. The College’s president, Dr. James J. Kelly announced, “Tang Wee Sung is a source of pride and a person of distinction for the College. After he received his Menlo College degree, Mr. Tang became the leader of the most exclusive department store in Singapore. With his extraordinary success, he has paid homage to his college by being a business exemplar and by contributing to its alumni development efforts.” Tang Wee Sung is the second son of Mr. Tang Choon Keng (C.K. Tang), the founder of TANGS. Wee Sung joined TANGS in 1975, and became chairman in September 1995. Mr. Tang oversaw the rebranding of TANGS for a modern audience, bringing TANGS from a business built on Chinese curios to today’s one-stop superstore and ensuring its relevance for the next generation.
