Menlo College's second annual retreat allowed new students to get away before college starts to participate in activities that introduced them to new people. On the morning of Thursday August 19th, the anxious students boarded buses for Walker Creek Ranch in Petaluma, CA.
Upon arriving, the new students were put into groups lead by Menlo Student Leaders. The groups had the opportunity to participate in any of the following activities: swimming, boating, hiking, sports, or a ropes course challenge. The afternoon was full of fun activities, including True Colors, a personality assessment that allowed students to learn about their personality type and how to work with others with different characteristics. Following True Colors, the students attended a comedy show lead by Dan Ahdoot, a well-known comedian from New York. The rest of the evening consisted of night hikes, campfires, s'mores, games, stories and many memories. After a night of fun, the new students joined in discussions and activities regarding the Sheena Iyengar's The Art of Choosing.
This retreat allowed students to bond and create memories that they will never forget. Freshman student Cameron Twombly said, "I am excited to be at Menlo and was glad to go on the overnight retreat."
