Enjoy an evening of Polynesian Music and Dance
The Hawai'i Club prepares to host its 18th annual Lu'au, a Hawaiian feast with music and traditional dancing on Saturday March 28, 2009. The doors open at 4pm; Dinner starts at 5pm, with the Polynesian dance show to follow at 6pm. Following the Polynesian dance show there will be live music featuring Hawai'i's own One Groove.
This year the theme of the lu'au is "Na Waiho'olu'u O Keanuenue," which means "The Colors of the Rainbow." Door prizes representing eight islands in the Hawaiian island chain will be awarded.
Sample the flavors of the Islands in a buffet style dinner menu including Kalua Pig, Teriyaki Chicken, Haupia, Island Fresh Tossed Salad, Fresh Tropical Fruit, Rice, and chilled Fruit Punch. During dinner, traditional and contemporary hawaiian music will be played by Kealoha Kalima Puli, Ipo Kalima, and Co-Advisor of the Hawai'i Club JD Puli.
The emcee of this years Lu'au will be Lina Girl from the KCCN FM 100 Morning Jam in Honolulu on the island of O'ahu. The Polynesian Dance Show will the feature members from our Hawai'i Club dancing to songs from Hawai'i, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Cook Islands. Following the dance show will be a concert by Hawaiian reggae group One Groove. This Hawai'i based group, now living in the Bay Area, plays hits such as Big Ship, All My Life, Heartache.

The Menlo College Lu'au is open to the public. Doors will open at 4:00pm with dinner at 5:00pm. Performances will begin at 6:00pm. General admission tickets are $40. Students from other schools can save $10 with valid ID. Admission for Menlo faculty and staff is $30, and Menlo student tickets are free with a $20 deposit. Tickets for children 12 and under are $20. VIP tickets with preferential seating, fresh flower lei greeting and table service are available for $50.
