Menlo Athletics has named Stefan McGovern as their new Head Baseball Coach. McGovern recently finished a successful stint as assistant coach with Metro State College of Denver, where he worked since 2009. Under his supervision last season the team was 6th in the nation with 8.7 runs per game. From 2006 to 2009 McGovern helped Santa Barbara City College reach Southern California Regional Playoffs two times, including winning the first conference championship since 1972 as the assistant coach.
"The baseball program is on the cusp of greatness and Stefan is the perfect fit to push us over the top," said Keith Spataro, Menlo Athletic Director. "His exuberance and passion for coaching is truly remarkable and we feel extremely fortunate to have him as part of the Oaks family."
The Oaks are coming into the 2012 campaign with a school record of 32 wins during 2011 season. "I am very familiar with the area and understand what it takes to get the job done," remarked McGovern. "The playoffs are a nice start but our goal is to get to the NAIA World Series."
