Menlo College is pleased to announce that Keith Spataro, an accomplished track and wrestling coach who built Menlo College's highly ranked men's wrestling program, is the college's new Athletic Director. He has served as Menlo's interim director since May.
"We are all enthusiastic about having Keith Spataro take the important step up from interim to Athletic Director of our outstanding student-athletic program here at Menlo College," said President Timothy Haight.
Spataro has been at Menlo for eight years and has been the driving force behind the men's wrestling team, which is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in its division.
"At Menlo, we are fortunate to have an almost pure level of coaching in that our students play for the love of their sports and for the camaraderie that only a small private school can offer. With the addition of great, new faculty and the exceptional improvement in student life, Menlo College offers an ideal package for our student-athletes," said Spataro.
Spataro has a distinguished track record in athletics, having taught and coached at the middle and high school levels as well as at Skyline College and San Francisco State.
"I'm very excited about this opportunity. I have always had a passion for athletics and coaching, and I feel positively about the direction that Menlo College has taken under our new administration," Spataro said after accepting the position.
Spataro's primary goal is to position the Athletics department as a cornerstone supporting the mission of the College. He wants to see talented athletes earn a first-rate academic degree and use their on-field experience and skills for lifelong success.
