Forging International Ties in Career Services

Representatives from the Career Center of the Student Welfare Organization in Bergen, Norway, visit Menlo to discuss career services best practices.The trip marks the tenth anniversary of the Center, which now serves about 27,000 students across ten universities in the Bergen area.

 

When asked why the Career Center was created, Ronnaug Tveit, the Center’s founder and current director, explained that one of the main goals was to help students find a job and stay in Bergen. "We wanted to keep the competence in Bergen," Tveit added.

 

The group met with Mary Robins, Director of Career Services, and Yasmin Lambie-Simpson, Dean of Student Affairs, to discuss career assessments used by Menlo. They were particularly interested in the personal approach Menlo career center offers its students, due to its high counselor-to-student ratio.
