Menlo College received two Coulomb Technologies electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as part of a grant from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, provided by the U.S. Department of Energy. The stations are available for use by Menlo students, faculty, and staff as well as by electric vehicle owners in the surrounding community.
“This will put us on the map as a green campus,” said Nilo Ventura, Chief Financial Officer at Menlo. “It is good for the environment, and we should go in this direction. This is the future.”
The stations are located in the parking lot by the Student Union. Each station provides two types of charging—level 1 and level 2—and can be used by two vehicles simultaneously. To start a charging session users can either tap a ChargePass Card on the station’s reader symbol, or call the telephone number located on the charging station.
Menlo is listed as an electric vehicle charging station as part of the ChargePoint Network. Electric vehicle owners can easily find charging stations or order their ChargePass Cards on the ChargePoint website, or by downloading the ChargePoint app, which enables owners to locate the nearest closest charging stations and check their availability from their iPhone, Android, or Blackberry mobile phone.
