A student art show in the Outside the Box, Inside the Frame series opens today featuring blue tape art and photographs from the Menlo College Photo Club. The exhibit is free and open to the public through mid-July in the Administration Building.
"Every year we like to have one show devoted to works of students," said Linda Smith, Associate Dean of Library Services and member of the Menlo College Art Committee. "The exhibit gives students an opportunity to express themselves and show their skills."
"We don’t want our school to look just like a lot of business suits, we want to show our creative side as well," said Leonard Romero, one of the participants in the blue tape art show. The hallway in the Administration Building was given over to students for two weeks to create images using blue masking tape. Seven students took part in this project, each using a different technique and theme.
The Menlo College Photo Club used the rest of the hallway to showcase their work, which represents a variety of styles and approaches and includes both digital and film photographs. Most of the images were taken during the club’s photo trips to San Francisco and Filoli.
