Joe Gannon, Class of 1956, Visits Menlo
Tuesday, June 21, 2005
Joe Gannon, SBA Class of 1956, visited Menlo College on a quiet Friday afternoon in June. While his wife, celebrity chef Bev Gannon, taught a cooking class in Menlo Park, Joe strolled through the campus. He met OIT techs, James Lee and Klaus Trilck, who led him to the Advancement Office.
Joe's first question was, "Is there a reunion coming up for the golden grads of 1956? I'd love to come to something like that!" After that, Joe casually mentioned that he lived on Maui, and that he had been an original member of the Kingston Trio in the early days, when they were all playing music and going to college. He later became their road manager. Joe went on to Hollywood, producing films and working in the music field, until he married Bev, took a trip to Maui and settled into the wonderful life of a running a restaurant with his wife, a reknowned chef. He left with a couple of Menlo Magazines and a class list, and a renewed fondness for the college and his friends that he would love to see again.
Joe is still interested in a reunion with the golden grads of 1955 and 1956, and if you are interested too, contact Dorothy Skala of Alumni Relations about Homecoming 2005, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 7-8, 2005 on campus. Let's make Joe's idea come true, and bring the classes of 1955 and 1956 back to Menlo.
