| Circulation Services - Students The Library Circulation Desk is open all hours of Library operation, with the last checkout taking place 10 minutes before the building closes. Circulating materials are checked out by using a Menlo College ID card with a valid barcode. Menlo College ID photos are taken at the Student Services Center. Bowman Library circulation policies are as follows: Books Videos Laptops Course
Reserves Please Note: Reference books, newspapers, magazines and journals may not be checked out. They are for Library use only. Books: $0.10
per day Laptops: $10.00
per hour (or portion thereof) Items may be renewed if not needed for Course Reserves or by another borrower. Renewals may be done in person, with materials in hand, at the circulation desk, or online at http://rosie.menlo.edu/patroninfo. Overdue materials must be renewed in person. Course reserves are items faculty place on reserve for course use. The checkout period for reserves is either 2 hours or overnight, as determined by the faculty member. Two-hour reserve items must remain in the Library. For more information, see the Course Reserves section.
Continued abuse of these policies will result in a suspension of Library privileges. The Library computers (in the reference area) are for academic work only. Time is limited to 20 minutes when others are waiting. The following may not be done on reference area computers:
Please note that there is an open access computer lab, without restrictions, for students in the basement of Brawner Hall. Please refer to Office of Information Technology page for policies and hours. Laptop computers are available for checkout and can be borrowed on a first-come, first-served basis from the Bowman Library Circulation Desk. Laptops are equipped with wireless network cards and are available for use in conjunction with the wireless network within the Library building. Laptops connect to Menlo College's computer network and the Internet, and include Microsoft Office, Macromedia MX Suite, Internet Explorer and Moziulla Firefox. All laptops are equipped with CD/DVD drives and USB ports. Headphones are available for checkout. At certain times, laptops may not be available for checkout because they will be reserved for classes conducted in the Library's multimedia classroom. Laptop computers may not be taken out of the Library. The following may not done on a Library laptop computer:
We wish to thank The Fletcher Jones Foundation for providing a generous grant that allowed Menlo College to purchase some of the circulating laptop computers. Non-Menlo laptops may connect to the campus WiFi network in the Library. All connections require acknowledgement of the Menlo College Computer Use Policy. Upon acceptance, access to the network is povided. WiFi connections do not include access to printing or personal folders on the campus network. Questions regarding access to the WiFi should be directed to the Office of Information Technology. Printing is free, but students are asked to print double-sided and not to print multiple copies of a document. For multiple copies, students are to use the public copy machine in the Library (copies are $0.10 per page; the machine accepts coins and dollars). Abuse of these policies will result in a suspension of printing privileges. |
