Instructional Services Program
Bowman Library's Instructional Services Program provides instruction and orientation services to Menlo College students. The Librarians work closely with faculty to provide students with the skills needed to complete specific assignments. This goal is accomplished by designing and providing instruction focused on teaching students skills needed to find, evaluate, and use information effectively, regardless of the delivery format.
Faculty may request course-specific Library Instruction to coincide with a course term paper or other research needs. The Library Instruction Request Form may be completed online. The request will be mailed to Linda Smith, the Information and Instructional Services Librarian, who will coordinate scheduling Library Instruction sessions. Please complete the form at least one week prior to the requested session.
Instructional settings vary from the Library Multimedia Classroom equipped with an overhead projector and wireless laptop connectivity to the computer workstations and reference collections located in the reading room. Entire classes, small groups, and individuals all benefit from the immediate expertise of the Library's instructional team.
Information literacy is considered an integral part of the learning experience of students at Menlo College. The Library plays a significant role in imparting knowledge to prepare students to be able to handle the manipulation of information effectively in their future careers.
