Sample Subject Headings -Research Guides -These Research Guides have been prepared by Librarians at Bowman Library to assist students in locating resources applicable to particular subject areas as well as conducting proper research.
Research Databases -These resources are Web-based subscription services available via Bowman Library's Web Page. AltPress Index via First Search - journals from the alternative press, covering cultural, economic, political and social issues; some are full text, some abstracts only. Articles relevant to your research can be requested via interlibrary loan. CountryWatch - useful for historical and background information on countries of the world, as well as current events. Includes political and social overviews. Europa World Plus - political and geographic background information on countries of the world. CQ Researcher - original reporting and analysis of events in the news. Historical New York Times - full text of The New York Times from 1851-2002. ProQuest - journal, magazine, and newspaper articles of current interest. Wilson Select Plus - full-text articles on a range of topics. WorldCat via First Search - a catalog of books available in libraries worldwide; useful when searching for books not in Bowman Library, but which may be obtained via interlibrary loan. Selected Free Web Sites -The following free Web resources have been selected as examples of the types of sites that will be useful to the requirements of this course. Remember, many free Web sites contain information that is doubtful in nature, or wrong, so always review the authority, currency, and objectivity or bias of every site you use. Need help?
