Chris Smith ’01 – From Media Management to Marketing Expert
Chris majored in Mass Communications with a concentration in Media Management. He also had a passion for sports, playing on the Menlo College Football team. Today Chris has parlayed his knowledge and skills to become an industry thought leader in video monetization, product development, and multi-screen strategies.
From the Classroom to the Job
Chris used what he learned in the classroom and the football field to get his first job after graduation as a Media Relations Assistant for the NFL. But as his career progressed he became more interested in sales. Over the next few years he took a variety of sales jobs honing his ability to build relationships with key customers. His move as Business Development Manager to Adaptv, a privately held start-up that provides online video monetization platform, allowed him to build his resume. He is currently Vice President, Video & Mobile for Collective Video where he is responsible for overall growth strategy.
Like many other Menlo graduates, Chris stays in touch with faculty and staff on a regular basis. He has served as President of the Menlo College Alumni Association and was on campus for our 85th Anniversary Celebration and homecoming game.
