Activities and Events
Menlo College is built on a model of bringing people together to help them succeed professionally and personally, and to that end, alumni are encouraged to participate.
Menlo College launched the 85th Anniversary with an All-Alumni Reunion during Homecoming Weekend on October 19 and 20, 2012. The ensuring events will bring together several generations of Menlo alumni from all over the world to celebrate the College’s achievements since its inception in 1927 through Commencement 2014 when Menlo College presents the 85th graduating class.
Hall of Fame Reception & Induction
Each year at Homecoming, the Athletic Department announces their Hall of Fame class. In 2012, six more alumni took their place amongst the Oaks elite: Bill Imwalle, Duane Ito, Ryan Madden, Joey Martinez, Eddie Miller, and Jason Stamps. The Hall of Fame inductees are announced during halftime of the Homecoming football game, as part of the College's 85th anniversary celebrations which go through 2014.
Senor Carlos Lopez Memorial Soccer Tournament
Menlo College hosted the 4th Annual Señor Carlos López Memorial Soccer Tournament on October 19, 2012. For the first time women were invited to join the game during Menlo's 85th Anniversary Celebration. Net proceeds are allocated for the Carlos Lopez Endowed Scholarship and the soccer program.
SBA Day is a once-per-year celebration of Menlo College’s focus on business education, as stated in our mission and in our tagline "Silicon Valley’s Business School."
The goals for the day are simple:
- To increase interaction between students and the business community
- Expose students to current business issues
- Encourage enthusiasm for academic efforts, like the business plan competition
Executive Speaker Series
The Executive Speakers Series is open to all Menlo students, faculty, and staff. The presentations are designed to provide students with insights into real business operations as a complement to the academic training they receive, and create an opportunity for informal dialogue between the executives and the students.
Accounting Speaker Series
Menlo College sponsors "Careers In Accounting" panel discussions with working professionals from fields such as public accounting (assurance and tax), private industry, and non-profit/government. The panelists describe their career paths, their current responsibilities and give advice for students interested in careers in accounting.
Alumni / Student Career Networking
Alumni professionals are invited to share their experiences and skillsets acquired along the road to success, including how they built their network during college.
Outside the Box, Inside the Frame
Today, the tradition of the well-rounded student at Menlo College continues with the Outside the Box, Inside the Frame art series and field trips to concerts, classes with the Artist-in-Residence, and other cultural events and programs.
