Meet Sidra Iqbal. Sidra is an accounting major who graduated magna cum laude, with 150 units of college credit – and did it all in 4 years. Dedicated would be one way to describe Sidra. As she approached the end of her Junior year, the requirements for accountants to obtain CPA certification changed to include a minimum of 150 hours of education. Sidra was determined attain that goal and do if in 4 years, sometimes taking as many as 19 units each semester.
I absolutely love how Menlo College provided opportunities for students to work with amazing, experienced accounting professors who help students seek internships with the local, regional, and the big four accounting firms of America. With this assistance, I was able to plan my career and enjoy the possibility of job security at the beginning of my senior year,” said Iqbal.
I addition to her full course load, Sidra was the Treasurer of the Accounting Club and President of the Muslim Student Association. She also worked as Assistant to the Controller, organized the student trip to Los Angeles to participate in the CalCPA Women’s Convention, and volunteered at The Salvation Army and Boys & Girls Club.
Sidra’s outstanding academic and service work has already jump started her career. In a highly competitive market, She won a summer internship with KPMG, a big 4 accounting firm (one of the largest accounting and consulting companies in the world), which culminated in a full-time permanent job offer upon graduation. Sidra now works as a Tax Associate with KPMG.
