1. What is your application deadline?
Menlo has a rolling admission policy. However, priority status is given to students who complete their applications by December 1 for our Early Action Consideration, or by our priority deadlines of November 1 for Spring admission and February 1 for Fall admission.

2. What credentials must be submitted to properly file an application?
Completed application, $40 application fee, essay, letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor, transcripts, and test scores (only for freshmen). See our Transfer Students link for information on transferring to Menlo.

3. How will my file be evaluated?
We value the individual strengths and diversity that students bring to Menlo, so we choose not to follow a specific formula when making our admission decisions. Each applicant is reviewed individually, and the acceptance decisions are based on many factors including the strength of your course curriculum, the school you attend(ed), and your grades and test scores. In addition, we consider your extra-curricular activities, community involvement, employment, and leadership roles. We are most interested in the quality of your activities, rather than the quantity.

4. What programs are offered at Menlo?
Menlo College has three very specific programs:

Bachelor of Science in Management with concentrations in General Business Management, International Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing Communication and Sports Management.
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with concentrations in History, Humanities and Psychology.
Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with concentrations in Media Studies, Media Management and Marketing Communication.

5. What is the core curriculum or general education requirement?
General Education requirements include: World Civilization (one year), English (three levels), Foreign Language (one year), Humanities (one lower and one upper division), Political Science, Intro to Computers, Science w/Lab, Diversity (two courses in women’s studies, ethnic studies, and/or religious studies), College Algebra, and Environmental Resource Management.

6. What are the current expenses for tuition, room and board, and fees?

Tuition: $30,500
Room and Board: $11,000
Health Insurance Fee: $500 (estimated)
Student Body Fee: $400

7. How can I make Menlo College affordable and how do I apply for financial aid?
Menlo College offers two basic types of assistance: merit-based financial aid (scholarships) and need-based financial aid (grants, loans, work-study). You must fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You may fill one out online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or pick up an application in the Financial Aid Office.

8. What types of scholarships are available?
We offer generous merit-based scholarships for both freshman and transfer students, ranging from $3,000 to $12,000 per year.

9. Where is the College located?
Menlo College is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, 20 miles from both the San Jose and San Francisco International Airports.

10. What is the size of the campus community?
The College is located on a 40-acre campus, located in the residential community of Atherton. Seven hundred students are enrolled in the College.

11. What are your on-campus housing options?
We have five residence halls on campus. Kratt Hall is the four-story freshman hall; El Camino Hall is a one-story co-ed hall by wing; O'Brien Hall is a two-story all male hall; Howard Hall is a two-story, all suite, co-ed hall by floor; Michael's Hall is also a two-story, all suite, co-ed hall by floor.

12. How's the Food?
Campus Dining Services at Menlo College, managed by Sodexho USA, features a healthy, environmentally friendly dining program. A variety of organic, hormone-free and healthy products are provided, including:

Hormone-free poultry, beef and pork (including deli meats) that are grain-fed and free of antibiotics and unnecessary preservatives
Certified organic produce, locally grown where possible, with seasonal exceptions as requested
House-made salad dressings free of trans-fats
House-made desserts, cookies and pastries
Organic cheeses, whole eggs, oils, spices, flour, granola, tofu, soy milk and other popular ingredients
All bio-degradable disposable products
Special labeling of all organic, hormone-free, free-range, and GMO free foods


In addition, students participate in composting and recycling programs. Menlo College takes pride in providing a healthy, delicious, and educational dining service program for students.

13. What attractions/activities are close to campus?
Our location, in the affluent suburb of Atherton, puts us blocks from lovely downtown Menlo Park and its quaint, tree-lined streets, cafes, and espresso bars. The Stanford Shopping Center is just minutes away, in addition to movie theatres and restaurants. In just 30 minutes you could be in San Francisco or at the Pacific Ocean. Menlo is reasonably close to Berkeley, Napa Valley, and only a few hours from Lake Tahoe where one can enjoy a full array of outdoor activities.

14. Will the College honor AP or CLEP? If so, what are the minimum scores to receive credit?
Menlo offers credit for in all areas. More information is available on our AP, IB and A-Level Credit page.

15. Are high school honors courses weighed in favor of the grade point average?
Yes, an additional grade point is given for each honors or advanced placement course.

16. Are there academic support services on campus?
Menlo has an Academic Success Program, which will help a student through tutoring and by developing study strategies.

17. Are internships, cooperatives, or study abroad opportunities available?
Menlo offers a variety of study abroad opportunities in places like Mexico , China, Japan, Chile, Italy and Spain.

19. What is the ratio of enrolled males and females?
60% male, 40% female.

20. What resources are available at the Library?
The Bowman Library houses over 65,000 volumes and new material is added monthly. The Library also has over 4,200 electronic books (eBooks). Librarians are available to assist with learning how to locate books, and use the research databases, as well as use the Web. They can also help streamline a research topic or find material not available in the Bowman Library.

21. What career services are offered at Menlo?
The Office of Career Services at Menlo College provides career counseling to students and alumni, at all stages of their career development process. In conjunction with Menlo faculty, the staff help students determine career goals and find relevant internships and jobs. Specific workshops include Job Search Strategies, Resume and Cover Letter Techniques, Interviewing Skills, and Applying to Graduate School. Menlo's ideal location in the heart of Silicon Valley, provides students with multiple internship and employment opportunities. Our distinguished alumni are excellent networking resources.

22. Are freshmen permitted to live off campus?
Students living within a 30-mile radius of the campus and with a legal parent or guardian may live off campus.

23. May students have private rooms?
Single rooms are available on a first come first served basis and for an additional cost.

24. What are the sports programs that Menlo offers?
Menlo competes in the NCAA Division III and NAIA California Pacific Conference. Menlo offers Baseball, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Cross-Country, Golf, and Soccer for men. For women Menlo offers Basketball, Cross-Country, Soccer, Softball, Wrestling, and Volleyball.
