Transferring to Menlo

Menlo College welcomes transfer applicants from all regionally accredited institutions. Approximately 35 percent of Menlo College students have transferred from community colleges and other four-year colleges and universities all over the United States and around the world. Transfer applications are accepted for both fall and spring semesters.

Transfer Applicant Defined

A transfer applicant is defined as any applicant who has graduated from high school and who has successfully completed at least 12 transferable academic semester credit hours with a recalculated GPA of 2.0 or above. Our transfer specialists are happy to answer any questions you may have about whether courses you have taken constitute “transferable academic” credit hours.

International Transfer Applicants

Menlo College welcomes applications from international college students. Please visit the International Students Web site

Transfer Agreements

Menlo College has developed articulation agreements with many California community colleges. Students do not need to complete all courses listed before transferring to Menlo College. However, the articulation agreements will help you to select courses that meet Menlo’s general education requirements. You may view the articulation agreement for your current community college online.

Transfer Credit

Students may transfer a maximum of 94 total semester units (70 lower division and 24 upper division).  Menlo generally grants credit for academic baccalaureate level courses in which a grade of C- or better is earned.  Students transferring with an approved AA degree from a regionally accredited institution or having completed the IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) at a California community college automatically satisfy most of the lower division requirements at Menlo College.  You may still be required to take prerequisite courses prior to registering for specific upper-division courses.  International students must have their transcripts evaluated by WES (World Education Services) prior to the issuance of transfer credits from their prior college or university.

Credit from Non-Traditional Sources

Menlo College evaluates credit from several sources including Advanced Placement Exams, International Baccalaureate Exams (higher level only), CLEP, and military education and experience.  For international applicants, credit may be evaluated for A or AS levels, German Abitur, and a number of other international exams that are routinely recognized by colleges and universities in the U.S.
