When you hear the bagpipes and the expectant hush of a proud audience of parents, families, and friends, Commencement at Menlo College begins. Members of the Prince Charles Pipe Band lead a grand Processional including the marching Color Guard, honoraries, faculty, and a stream of students in their cap and gowns to the center of the Quad. It's a milestone ceremony you won't want to miss as you listen to the memories of the valedictorians, student leaders, and dignitaries.
Keynote speaker and alumnus John Pritzker '76, entrepreneur and investor, is a 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry. His career started in his family’s company, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and he has since been the founder and managing partner of many businesses including Geolo Capital, Commune Hotels & Resorts, Ticketmaster, Inc., and Chemdex/Ventro.
The College will present Bernard Osher of the Bernard Osher Foundation with an honorary doctorate for his extraordinary philanthropic efforts on behalf of higher education. The College will award The Honorable Anna Eshoo with the President’s Medal for her distinguished public service and her recent assistance to the College in the procurement of our Cal-Grant funding.
After the candidates receive their diplomas, the event culminates when the graduates turn their tassels to the other side of their caps. Thunderous applause ensues along with a memorable splash of confetti. Congratulations to the Class of 2014 at Menlo College.
