Taking care of personal business: What is your long-term strategy?
Tommy Lasorda, two-time World Series Championship manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, once told a group of eleven- to fourteen-year-old baseball players, "Get your education. It is the one thing that no one can take away from you."
The economic crisis makes all of us feel as if the rug has been pulled out from under us. Unemployment is rising, personal wealth has declined, and some of the biggest companies and financial institutions have caved in under the pressure. It is a natural reaction to feel frightened or gloomy about your future prospects.
However, in every downturn, there are opportunities. We believe that now is the best time for you to take charge of your future and, as Mr. Lasorda wisely urged, to get your education.
The Menlo Advantage could not be more relevant. We are preparing our students for careers that do not yet exist, and we are preparing them for the volatility that comes with a global marketplace, rapid technological advancement, and issues such as environmental climate change and awareness.
The more tools you have, the greater your opportunity for employment and lifetime financial gain. Remember, that even in these hard times, there are individuals and companies that are prospering.
At Menlo College, we're here to help you start your long-term strategy in several ways:
- Personalized student services
- Small classes
- A close-knit, student life community with a full calendar of events
- Ongoing faculty interaction and support
- Superior athletics that emphasize the student-athlete model
- International student enrollment and tradition
- Exceptional student clubs and organizations

Let us help you take care of personal business with a degree that will serve you for life.
Sincerely,
James J. Kelly
